Part 4.2-Stratiotology-The Soldier’s Creed

By SD Mac

Grief is heavy…

When Steve passed, there was a part of me that was…Done fighting, done building, done being “strong.”

I wanted to disappear, maybe move to a quiet town, sell plants or vegetables…something that didn’t require any thinking or feeling or just away from people. But God didn’t let me rest there. He whispered, “You’re not finished.”

I literally just want to clock out of the hardest season of my life.

He said, “Exactly, now you know how to lead.”

That’s when the word Stratiotology came to life. It dropped into my spirit like a command: The study of what it means to endure hardship as a soldier of Christ.

I realized all those long nights with Steve…our business plans, our strategy sessions, our theological debates…were basic training. He taught me how to think like a soldier…with faith, logic, and a plan B through Z. I used to think we were just building companies; turns out, God was building endurance.

So, I did what soldiers do: I got back up.

I began writing, praying, mapping the next mission. The Stratiotology Foundation was born… not out of ambition, but obedience. A call to help others fight their battles with dignity, direction, and discipline.

Because here’s the thing…life will throw punches. You can either fall or kneel. I chose to kneel…because prayer hits harder than despair ever will.

Stratiotology– Soldier…A study adn discipline of being a soldier of Christ. It isn’t about perfect Christians serving God. It’s about crooked stick saved by grace…broken believers learning how to keep moving forward, in grief, in faith, in service. Knowing that without God, I have nothing and that hardship is part of our training and sanctification.

-John 6:68 (KJV) “Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.”

-2 Timothy 2:3 (KJV) “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.”

My creed became simple:

  • Serve when it’s hard.
  • Stand when you’re tired.
  • Shine when the world goes dark.

And always — Soli Deo Gloria!

Every road I walk now, every person I meet, every story I share, it all circles back to that promise.

I’m not here to build a legacy (Steve, hated the word legacy for himself as he said; “We are here to build His kingdom alone as his Soldiers to continue his work!”

I’m here to walk along soldiers…those who have been through the fire, who’ve lost something, who’ve questioned everything, and still say, “Lord, use me.”

This is the new mission.

Not to avoid the battlefield, but to bring hope into it.

Because even soldiers cry. But soldiers of Christ?

We cry, wipe our tears, pick up the Word, and keep marching.

Soli Deo Gloria!

To God Alone be the Glory!

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” -2Timothy 2:3

“Resolved, never to give over, nor in the least to slacken, my fight with my corruptions, however unsuccessful I may be.” -Jonathan Edwards, Resolution, 56
